On the great outdoors.

I became fascinated with an abandoned quarry near the house I shared with some friends one winter in Maine. I would sit in my warm car and wonder what it would be like to swim in the icy water, just as the sun was setting… but I’ve never been so bold.

The portraits here have always received the most attention. Each one represents a few minutes of laying in the mud and snow that settle just beyond our windows. A challenge to join the world we always avoid.

The landscapes are simply landscapes, although I wanted them all fierce and seductive. Bleak fields you would be curious to explore, or a quarry you may want to swim.
